So, here's two bits of news from today that make me happy. First of all, I got my housing signed up for college, and rather than the loggerjam I was led to expect, there was enough for all and I got a room. Exciting, I guess.  But no, that's not all! I got a PRIVATE ROOM!! Now that really is exciting, as far as I'm concerned. They're a little hard to come by where I'm going. Plus now I don't have to worry about where I'll be staying. The worst-case scenario of having to find my own apartment with some strangers somewhere in a far-away city is not going to happen!

The second bit is political, and random, but reading it made me happy (if you've been watching me for a while you'll know why!) From POLITICO.COM:

Ron Paul to chair Fed oversight panel
Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) sparked the movement to “audit the Fed.” Now he might get his way.

Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, announced Thursday that Paul will chair the subcommittee that oversees the Federal Reserve.

Paul’s monetary policy manifesto, "End the Fed," foreshadows the direction his oversight responsibilities might head in the next Congress.

The Texas Republican’s small-government views have built him a following of anti-spending, anti-government loyalists.

Bachus announced other subcommittee chairmanships Thursday, as well.

“This is the leadership team that crafted the first comprehensive financial reform bill to put an end to the bailouts, wind down the taxpayer funding of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and enforce a strong audit of the Federal Reserve,” Bachus said in a statement.

I say: it's about time, and it couldn't be in better hands.

In other news, Worlds Without End is getting closer to actual production, but right now a lot of my energy is going to Li'l Mell... and then I'll be starting college, so any major work won't be until probably Spring or something. But the plot is getting quite well-developed! It's going to be a lot more interesting than before, I think. It looks like I'll be able to work in most the cool ideas I want to use. *mad scientist laugh*
